Could this be possible? Say I plan to stream an mkv, I could have it transcode alone into the mpeg-4/AC3 format on my Hard Drive, THEN I can stream it across. If I'm not mistaken, that oughta cut down on the amount of times the video has to stop and wait for the PC to catch up. It'd help people like me since I have an older P4 2.4GHz processor, but I wanna put my HDTV to full use.
I could try just doing a transcoded copy directly to my PS3, but most have a very small HD space (I have the 60GB. I've got 4GB free) as opposed to a PC which most typically have 150GB+.

This server was designed to not create transcode temp files on the harddrive and probably never will. You'll have to use something like MKV2VOB to pre-transcode your library.
