it would be great if the ps3 media sever was able to use your video card to do your video processing istead of your cpu . a 1080p video that a lower end cpu has to run at 80-95 % to play , most video cards can do at about 15% , with the video card handling the work the chip is free to handle any number of things.

Avivo and pure video is intended to ease "Video Playback", its the encoding to a new format that takes a lot of CPU when transcoding. the real gain for using hardware accelerated deconding is probably not as big as you think. And I also think PMS already supports this if you install the AVISynth transcoding method.

i think th avi synt only supports nvidia cards . also if your chip doesn't have the horse power to properly trancode 1080p video , getting your video card to do the processing is a great fix to the problem
