Explicit VLC folder setting?

Postby whome » Thu Feb 26, 2009 1:01 pm

I would like to see an explicit VLC folder setting where we can give a VLC path. Sometimes we have older version winregistrered but wished to use unzip-installed beta version. Default can still use windows registry if value is not given.

Some users have had problems with VLC registration, maybe option to give exact path would be a ok.

What I found out today, in my machine WinXP-SP3, its older VLC0.8.6 seems to work best. New releases VLC0.9.8, 0.9.9rc and 1.0.0.git versions crashes frequently. Another issue was they are very unstable streaming a web sources. Older works better in few test urls I tested so far.

I really would like to see an explicit c:/path/to/vlc.exe setting, it made easier to find best ps3ms happy VLC version and use it. An official winregistry setup.exe VLC could then be anything.
