ok, i am working now on the pluging.

in this moment i have new version with the next commands:

Shutdown PC Windows
Shutdown PC Windows Restart
Shutdown PC Windows Hibernate
------------------------------
Shutdown PC Linux
Shutdown PC Restar Linux
Shutdown PC Linux Hibernate

The linux command Shutdown and Restar work on all linux
Hibernate is only for ubuntu.

ubuntu user have to install:
1 - apt-get install hibernate.
2 - modified the file /etc/sudores
3 - in the last line add <yuor_user_name> ALL = NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/hibernate , /usr/sbin/hibernate-ram

Note: Download the file make a backup of you old pms.jar and copy the new file to the ps3 folder

Minor update
Now i put a new version
1 - all shutdown options in the folder: #- Computer Options -#
2 - Sleep Mode for Windows.

Just tried the latest update. The sleep function puts the computer into hibernate instead.

but, your computer is a desktop or laptop ?
because de sleep concept is for notebooks, laptop etc.

for a normal desktop is only hibernate.

great work thnx, but is want my pc to shutdown completely. Can you implement this or where can i change this myself.
Is it possible to create two versions, say one for windows and one for linux?

if you see in the folder #- Computer Options -# you have some Shutdown Options:

1 - Shutdown PC Windows
2 - Shutdown PC Restart Windows
3 - Shutdown PC Hibernate Windows
4 - Shutdown PC Sleep Windows
5 - Shutdown PC Linux
6 - Shutdown PC Restart Linux
7 - Shutdown PC Hibernate Linux (ubuntu users only)

remember download de pms.jar and copy it in your directory
this work for Windows and linux

Ik don't see the 'shutdown' windows option, only reintall of some sort, and the hybernate, sleep and restart.
I do see a Linux shutdown option.

Desktop. I'm 100% positive there's sleep in desktops. It's the default option in Windows 7, rather than hibernate.

Desktop. I'm 100% positive there's sleep in desktops. It's the default option in Windows 7, rather than hibernate.

Both desktops and laptops have the sleep, hibernate and poweroff states. You can find a detailed explanation in this wikipedia article. There is no distinction between laptops and desktops.
I like to be pedantic, so I will tell you that Vista (and I suppose Windows 7) defaults to Hybrid Sleep: a state of sleep, so that it wakes up fast, but also hibernates at the same time, in case power is lost. I do not know if Linux has such a state.
By default, any recent Mac goes into sleep. Linux machines are usually always on machines, so I do not see any default being set there.

Congrats on writting the neccessary code for sleep/shutdown/poweroff. From what I see, you need another tip: there is a function that tells you if PS3MediaServer is being used in a Windows, Mac or Linux machine. I noticed such a difference with the iTunes/iPhoto thingy in PMS.java.
