I was testing random files and I noticed there is no BMP support. Quick check in the first blog post says "JPG/PNG/GIF/TIFF", although the PS3 definitely allows viewing of bitmaps (it works in other media servers). Although a format like PNG is probably better, maybe there should be BMP support for completion's sake? Plus, it's the easiest image format to handle so it should be very easy to add.

I have never loaded .bmp images to Java application, its so last season format. Anyway wanted to try it out if Java even had bmp loader out of the box. It does have if someone is interested in a legacy format.

It takes another two lines to convert image to RGB .png format, so probably .BMP support has been very low-requested feature.
