Add support for Showtime

Heres my thing with the lates rise of homebrew on the ps3 they have gotten the ability to play mkv's natively along with other files the ps3 can't play through a homebrew app called showtime which also supports upnp so we could add support for showtime in ps3 media server we would no longer have to transcode most files. So could we add support for showtime?

Also, don't you have to jailbreak for this to be used?

Jailbreak is a must yes. So far I've been to sissy to try it myself but it has UPnP support and basically all media formats that exists so with it on PS3 Mplayer/Mencoder would probably not be needed for many streams => less cpu power needed.

yea you would have to jailbreak but im a pretty good hacker myself just not a very good coder ill attempt to learn one day but showtime does support upnp and is recondnised as a different device so we could write a profile for it by the way showtime can play 1080p mkv

Myself i have to ps3 my orginal 80gb backwards compatiable one 2nd gen and a cheap 60gb 3rd gen used from gamestop which has been my jb one everysince the orginal jailbreak was released. Jailbreaking isnt that big of a deal if your on fw 3.55 or below and if your just using it for media and playing games i would recomend kmeaw 3.55 cfw but if you want to mess around and use linux alson i would recomend rebug with other os++ support you can find it on rebug.me you have to modify the pup with ps3mfw coreator to achieve other os++ support the tutorial is at rebug.me

Now my PS3 is to new (it already has 3.60) so it is not as easy to jailbreak ...

For those of you how are have jailbreaked your PS3 and installed showtime I would say that performing the PMS integration is simple. Simply copy a conf file and modify it, I would suspect that the ID string will change and that all file types are supported...

Ahh thats unfortunate i myself have been trying to get the 3.60 keys with no luck but ive heard other devs are getting close.

I'm using Showtime (km 3.55 320gig(upgraded) fat) on a secondary *test* ps3 and wanting to try this

I take it I just copy and modify one of the conf files found in C:\Program Files (x86)\PS3 Media Server\renderers ? ... change the ID string? How would I acquire the proper one ?

Sorry for all the ?'s...I just want to have something to do this weekend while being stuck inside (rain).
