PMS 1.10 and ubuntu 64bits

Postby moreje » Thu Mar 05, 2009 10:54 am

Hi,
I just switched from vista to ubuntu, and so, wanted to install and configure PMS (that worked perfectly on vista x64!)
I followed the howto (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=315) and it seems ok but I still have some problems/questions:
+ the option 'enable multi core' is still grayed....so that I m not sure the MT is enabled.
How can I check that it works? I tryed 'top' and I see only 1 thread for mencoder (but it is 130% cpu)... so what???are there other options/modifications to do in the PMS.sh?

+lots of HD mkv (1080/720) that I could read before (vista) now show "corrupted data error" . Any idea on how to fix that?

Thanks a lot for your precious help...if I can't make PMS working properly, i'll probably have to switch back to vista..

for you mkvs, I guess you have to give permissions to <pmsdir>/linux/tsMuxeR

You may also need to set tsMuxeR executable ('chmod +x linux/tsMuxeR' from the directory where you have PMS installed).

And IF you want, you can install wine and put last tsmuxer.exe for windows on /pms/linux directory renaming it "tsMuxer" and making it executable with chmod +x tsMuxer.

I'm currently using tsMuxer 1.8.19 under my ubuntu server (64bit) with PS3MediaServer.

Enjoy.

I got the same corrupted error whenever I tried to play anything that needed to be transcoded. The only thing I could do to fix it was to stop using txMuxer all together and just use mencoder.

TsMuxer is already executable (for me)
should it also be for group and others??

If java doesn't run under another process owner than yourself, there's no need for that.

But setting the permissions to 755 won't harm anybody, so just go for it.

Only needs to be executable for the id it runs under (so if you run it as yourself, that should be fine).

Also, I would just make sure it runs w/out generating any errors from a shell. (just run linux/tsMuxeR) and you should see the following:

SmartLabs tsMuxeR. Version 1.7.3(b) http://www.smlabs.net
Usage:
For start muxing: tsMuxeR <meta file name> <out file/dir name>
For detect stream params: tsMuxeR <media file name>
For more information about meta file see readme.txt
