paissad - sorry to post like this, cuz I know how real life can get in the way of projects. But are you planning on continuing to update this repo...? I'm certainly not an expert, but maybe I or someone else (the more the merrier!) could help you maintain the repo so the newest stable versions will be available shortly after release...? With many people, we could share the burden of keeping the repo updated. Then perhaps we could also have multiple repo's!

Just a thought. Let me know if I can help in any way, I'd be more than willing to lend a hand. It is quite nice having a repo for this application, and anything I can do to continue its service, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for your hard work, I really do appreciate it!

Thanks for this script - the effort really is greatly appreciated.

I just ran it on my brand new Ubuntu 11.04 server installation. The install completed without error and I could immediately see and browse the machine's media via my PS3. However, once I restarted my server it no longer appears to start up PMS. Even if I login as admin it doesn't start up. There doesn't appear to be any executable files under /usr/share/pms-linux, so not really sure what to do at this point (I'm only barely proficient in linux).

Any help would be much appreciated.

First of all, you should be using upstart scripts since Ubuntu 10.04.

Second, can you do this for me? Restart the machine, and wait. Wait until all services (you think) are back up. Then

After long battle I've managed to get rid of the FFMPEG problem and all libraries seem to be up to date. Basically I've rebuilt the server so now I have the latest Debian 6.

Sadly I am still unable to play any Web content. I also noticed that even if I download the video from YouTube, I still cannot play it and the error is the same:

I've created the /usr/share/pms-linux/plugins directory and copied pmsencoder-1.5.7.jar. Content from YouTube can play now..
Now I can work without being interrupted every 5 min to play on my laptop "Old MacDonald.." and all sort of similar. Thank you so much.

One thing that doesnt work though, is that I cannot play most of the FLV files downloaded from the Internet. No particular error in the log (or maybe I cant spot it):
