@arrrghhh
hmm, hmm, you misunderstood !
Actually, the 1st script i wrote for automatic installation did not handle the installation of mplayer-mt/mencoder-mt but the new one i did release for about 2 months now tries to install the mplayer-mt and mencoder-mt if your system can support them.
In other words, i personally don't built any kind of mplayer-mt or mencoder-mt package (really tricky and busy project since i don't really have much time these later days :?)
Anyway, if i were you, i would wait someone to build those packages for lastet Ubuntu versions. We don't really have the choice apart from building from the source.

Ah, I see... that's unfortunate. I was hoping for a repo of these packages...

I am pretty sure I built them from source, but I am still having issues - I also haven't found a great guide for such things. I've followed many, and they all seem to point to several other guides, and I very quickly get lost :p.

I'll try it again sometime I'm sure, just frustrating. It's like my home is now a 'production environment' - difficult to try and tinker with such things basically! Thanks for the response tho.

Wonderful package, thanks a bunch for doing all the hard work! My only suggestion (besides MT) is to have IA32 installed on 64-bit systems automagically. Couldn't get .mkv files working until I had that installed.

Re: .DEB package available for Debian/Ubuntu

Hi, thanks for a great script. Seemed to run fine, but 2 things to note.
First is just a spelling mistake - "Enter 'yes' (y|Y) to intall or 'no' (n|N): yes". So "intall" instead of "install". Important, I know :lol:
But the main issue I had was no mplayer-mt or mencoder-mt.
Script output:
"You have 'lucid', but the latest build for mplayer-mt,mencoder-mt is for 'karmic'
We will not install mplayer-mt, mencoder-mt.
Try to build from source.
See: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1049449
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8539"
But I thought I saw a few pages back it would be ok in newer releases? Be awesome to have something for Lucid, especially being LTS.
Also those links are for ffmpeg-mt & mplayer-mt. Does that cover mencoder-mt also? (noob question, sorry!).
Anyway, it otherwise ran fine on 10.04.02 server 64bit.
Off to configure now...

@Wimma

Thanks for the remarks, i corrected the spelling errors :)
Actually, at this moment, there is no mplayer-mt built deb package for Lucid or Maverick, but for Karmic.
But since, it is not recommended to install .deb packages of an old release onto a recent one. Thus, i prefer not installing automatically the mplayer-mt,mencoder-mt packages if there a not built for your release.
But that does not meant it won't work if you do so (it's just no recommended ...)
Anyway if you want mplayer-mt,mencoder-mt, you can add the rvm repository, but i advice you to build from source or wait for a decent release for Lucid :)
