A terminal install guide

Postby cjminton » Tue Jun 30, 2009 2:04 am

Can anybody out there point me in the right direction as in how to install ps3 media server for ubuntu jaunty x64 by using a terminal? I have searched all 7 pages of this forum and could not find anything useful for someone new to linux and I also searched the ubuntuforums as well. Thank you so much!

I think just download the PMS tgz, extract it and run the appropriate PMS shell script.
Don't forget to install the other required apps like mencoder, mplayer, x264...

make sure the shell script is executable:

$ sudo chmod 0777 PMS.sh

(if PMS.sh is the name of the file, i can't remember )

as it turns out im not having a issue with PMS im having a issue with java it self...dont work even though everything i check says its installed with newest ver.
java -version says:
java version "1.6.0_0"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.4.1) (6b14-1.4.1-0ubuntu11)
OpenJDK Server VM (build 14.0-b08, mixed mode)

and the about:plugins in firefox has about a page worth of java lisings
infact firefox is the only place java works...guess i just have to back-up and reinstall..(i think UE 9.04 is the problem) or just deal with it till i do a fresh install of 9.10 in OCT
if you cant tell im new to GNU/linux/Ubuntu....i love it though!

I used the latest JRE from Sun and that solved my Java issues.
