Use latest ps3mediaserver-read-only

Postby vmlinuz » Wed Jan 28, 2009 9:59 pm

Next is under Ubuntu 8.10

Ok, this is my story but can help :-)

Linux vmlinuz-desktop 2.6.24-23-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 27 18:44:42 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

ok kernel not optimized for my cpu, just use the generic after update...
I will work on it after, cause my ASROCK MB give me IOMMU error on 64bits kernel boot... :-((

But generic seems good, so I do that :
shagrath wrote:very easy:

you must have "ant" and "svn" packages, then :

svn checkout http://ps3mediaserver.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ ps3mediaserver-read-only
cd ps3mediaserver-read-only/ps3mediaserver
ant
sh PMS.sh

:)

All right :D , thanx shagrath !

Here is my first output.

vmlinuz@vmlinuz-desktop:/usr/local/src/ps3mediaserver-read-only/ps3mediaserver$ ant
Buildfile: build.xml

depends:

clean:
[delete] Deleting directory /usr/local/src/ps3mediaserver-read-only/ps3mediaserver/classes

chmod 777 jdk-6u3-fcs-bin-b05-linux-i586-24_sep_2007.bin

cd ..

This is very dirty way of doing it, IMO.
I think that "ant" and "eclipse" and "PMS.sh" would prefer that you use the JAVA_HOME environment variable instead.
Also you should install JDK in a location where it doesnt disturb other installed packages from your distro. "/usr/local" or "/opt" is two such places.

Code: Select all
cd /home/you  (or just "cd")
wget http://www.java.net/download/jdk6/6u3/promoted/b05/binaries/jdk-6u3-fcs-bin-b05-linux-i586-24_sep_2007.bin
chmod 777 jdk-6u3-fcs-bin-b05-linux-i586-24_sep_2007.bin
cd /usr/local
/home/you/jdk-6u3-fcs-bin-b05-linux-i586-24_sep_2007.bin
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jdk1.6.0_03

If you then add the "export ...." line to ".login" or ".bashrc" you dont have to enter it again on your next login.

I think this should work, but I'm to tired to test it right now.
Other than this, good wallkthrough.

Or, since you're on Ubuntu, sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk should suffice :)

That's I have tried but javac version was not good to use ant.

Regarding $JAVA_HOME, I think that could be better for sure.
But re and jdk bin are not in same directory under jdk1.6.0_03 so...

I don't think you need both, I've only downloaded the JDK1.6.0_11, which is the latest one I can find.
