tsMuxeR woes

Postby heddhunter » Wed Jun 24, 2009 5:23 am

I have PMS installed and running for most types of media, but I can't get it to work with anything that wants to use tsMuxeR. This makes me sad because I really like to avoid transcoding whenever possible and I have many HD .mkv's that would benefit from the tsMuxeR path.

I grabbed the latest tsMuxeR binary from smartlabs, as the one included with PMS did not work right on my system. The new one doesn't seem to complain, but I still can't get any love. I tried 1.10.5 and 1.11.345.

I see lots of messages like this in the debug.log

[New I/O server worker #1-1] DEBUG 21:20:43.744 External inputstream instance is null... sounds not good, waiting 500ms

Any ideas?

Could we get a full debug.log to skim through? Usually there will be a more specific error further up from the one you included.

Some information about your system disto could also help, especially if you're on BSD. Pipes and FIFOs tend to work just slightly different on some BSDs. Your problem sounds like it could be related to the creation/writing/reading of FIFO buffers...

I am on Ubuntu 8.04.

Here's the log when trying with PMS-1.10.5

Here's the log when trying with PMS-1.11.345

I've built my own ffmpeg, mencoder and mplayer binaries from recent subversion checkouts.

After further digging, it looks like I can't get tsMuxeR to start on my system. Looks like it is built for 32 bit linux, and I am running x86_64.

1) is anyone aware of an x86_64 version of tsMuxeR
2) if not, how do I get 32 bit freetype built on my system? tsMuxeR is exiting with this:
./tsMuxeR: error while loading shared libraries: libfreetype.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I do have x86_64 freetype in /usr/lib but I guess that doesn't work.

I fixed it - the tsMuxeR that comes in the pms zipfile works fine, it just requires libc-i386. I didn't get the one from the smartlabs site.
