Debian 64bit / advantages / disadvantages

Postby iBurger » Sun Jun 14, 2009 1:45 pm

I'm planning to install PMS on the Debian AMD64 port, hoping to
maximize raw processing power.

Has anyone done this yet? I don't think we are using anything too exotic.

As far as I know there isnt any 64bit version of TsMuxer for linux. That is the only *big* problem I know about.

I run it on 64 bit ubuntu 9.04 seams to run fine. I mostly use it to copy movies to the HDD but it plays whatever I throw at it.

All you need is this:

- static binaries of tsMuxeR (the download @ SmartLabs which does NOT say "small file size")
- 32bit compatible libs as needed

And tsMuxeR will run in 32bit mode even if your Debian is x64.
