Videos not Playing after Ubuntu 14.04 Upgrade

Postby mattymcmatt » Thu Jun 12, 2014 12:07 pm

After upgrading to Ubuntu 14.04, PMS is not streaming the videos anymore. When playing a video, the screen just goes black and the video and audio indicators don't show anything.

I've tried using the package from happy-neko and installing from source but nothing changes.

Any ideas? Nothing seems to show up in the debug.log except these two lines:

[DVDISO Failsafe] Stopping Unix process 6832: mplayer-1
[DVDISO Failsafe] Stopping Unix process 6850: mplayer-2

ihad the same problem (Linux Mint 17 - Ubuntu 14.04 based) ; moreover #transcode subfolders were messy and most of the players/decoders were missing. The problem is that PSM requires the ffmpeg tool to work but it has been removed from the 14.04 repositories. IT was replaced by the avconv tool. I tried to install it (sudo apt-get install libav-tools) but I had the same issue. I have then uninstalled it (don't know if ti is required but I was scared by "conflicts" - sudo apt-get autoremove libav-tools) and install ffmpeg tool from a ppa : ... ntu/ffmpeg :
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jon-severinsson/ffmpeg
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ffmpeg
then restart PMS should be enough to get it work back

Hope this helps ; let me know
