After a upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 the PMS seems to have issues with audio playback on the client side. In the default setting and playback video files get a horrible noise of a single frequency.
I'm using a PS3 connected to the TV and amplifier on the client side and I know it's not the machine that is faulty as It can both play games, netflix, youtube and even mp3-files within the PMS.
The issue seems to be related to Mencoder. I can play mp3 without any issues, and the image part of the video playback works fine. I've also been able to get decent audio in the video files by using the #Transcoder# folder and ffmpeg option...(This was with UMS and not PMS). The problem is that my video files lies so deep in the directory tree that I cannot usually access this folder without it refusing to open a folder. It seems to be a limit as do how deep I can go.
I've been using this setup with All ubuntus from 12.10-13.10 without any issues.
Thanks for any help that might shed som light on this.
