Export GUI to alternate disyplay?

Postby devanl » Sun Apr 12, 2009 5:07 pm

I didn't event realize that PMS had a GUI for Linux until I made it to this forum but its been running fine for tsMuxer. Still I have to wonder if I can't use this GUI exported to another system after invoking it through an SSH session?

Thanks,
Devan

What I should have done first is try this so I did setting up X11 forwarding.

I noticed in the trace log for PMS the first line says:
"GUI environment no available
Switching to console mode"

What is PMS using to determine this?

Thanks,
Devan

Hi !
I have the same question/problem.

My linux server is running in console mode, and i use the well-known "export DISPLAY" to send GUIs on an external X server.
That's works great for any apps i use, and i hope PMS will work too, but i have the "GUI environment no available" when lunching the server.

How PMS test the GUI environment ?
How can we change it ?

Thanks !

Lessieur.

Thanks, but it doesn't work.
I got the same output :

Code: Select all
GUI environment no available
Switching to console mode

I also tried lunching "PMS.sh noconsole" from a user and then with root account, but that doesn't change anything.
I looked at the PMS.sh script, but i can't find where the GUI detection is.

About my config : I'm running a Ubuntu, no serverX, with java 1.6 (only JRE, without SDK)

Can i try something else ?
Thanks for your help !
