FIXED playback issue / version 1.71 (EDIT: DLNA 7531 Error)

Postby phu5ion » Tue Nov 13, 2012 4:48 am

I just upgraded to version 1.71, and when I try to watch an mp4, after 2-3 minutes the audio starts cutting out for 5 seconds followed by the video while it's waiting for the audio to "catch up". I'm running Xubuntu 12.04 LTS with openjdk-6-jre. I've also noticed that ps3mediaserver is using an entire core's worth of CPU time even when I'm not streaming. I've tried both the ffmpeg and mplayer video encoders and have encountered the same behavior.

I don't know if this is related because I've seen this before in my log, but I'm getting the following exception in my debug file. No other errors are sticking out in the trace.

Thanks. Fixed. As the error message suggests, the debug.log button in the Traces tab doesn't work on your platform.

No problem.

Any thoughts on my issue with playback? Is there any other information which I can provide to help troubleshoot?

EDIT: some more info, I was able to play a video without issue on my tv, so I'm wondering if it could be something with the PS3's seek feature. Also, once I finished watching, I started getting "badly parsed" info messages in trace, and it's eating CPU cycles again. It repeats this same series of messages over and over again every few seconds. And the I/O server worker part, it seems like it's running at most 6 different workers. Short of unsharing the folder, I'm at a bit of a loss.

I had several 100% CPU (one core) deadlocks too with pre 1.71.0 ps3ms versions. Killing java process and restarting ps3ms helps.
This is not related to JRE version, this is definitely ps3ms bug.

So I think I've figured out what when wrong. I was only having problems with my PS3, when I was using my LG TV I was able to play media perfectly. I also started seeing a DLNA error code 7531. I did a web search and found someone that fixed it by navigating on their PS3 to "Settings" => "Network Settings" => "Media Server Connection" and then disabling it and re-enabling it. Seems like this clears out some internal PS3 data and refreshes the connection to PMS.

My PS3 is no longer causing my PC to run wild with CPU usage.
