pms complete removal, re-install, and mp4 ps3 slim issues

Postby adtoes » Wed Feb 15, 2012 12:22 am

Hey all super nubie question

I want to completely remove playstation 3 media server (aka pms-linux) oin my 11.10 Ubuntu system
and all its dependencies because after installing 1.50 its not working hardly at all my ps3 won't play mp4's says they're data corrupted even though they'll play on my fatty just not on my slim

nor will my Samsung 7900 TV recognize the server I previously was on subjunk build which was a .deb file

so I just wanted to remove everything related to pms and dependencies and start over

also it buffers excessively for the router I own

I love this software and want it working to the capacity I know it can for me

Thanks to this awsome community

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13046 (make sure you uninstall the old tarball/.deb first - see below)

I previously was on subjunk build which was a .deb file

AFAIK, there's no .deb package for the SubJunk build...

If you're using the old .deb:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get purge pms-linux
rm -rf ~/.config/PMS

If you're using the new .deb:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get purge ps3mediaserver
rm -rf ~/.config/ps3mediaserver

If you installed it from the tarball:

Code: Select all
rm -rf /path/to/pms-linux-1.50.0
rm -rf ~/.config/PMS

perfect worked great from the ppa link you provided

some buffering issues still; set bandwidth usage to 0 (max)

also my 55UD7900 Samsung Smart TV still does not recognize the server anything I may be able to try regarding a config file to allow it to be recognized by the Samsung??

PS. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!
