ps3 = heaven ?

I bought myself an PS3 and ask around which mediaplayer I should use, the answer was always : there is just ONE mediaplayer that are recommended and that is ps3 media server.
I downloaded this and so far so good, however I have problems to admit I like it any longer..

I run win7 x64bit and :
* I can not get it installed as a service
* streaming from web not working
* youtube not working
* can't fastforward faster than 1.5x or else I get network error..

Just for fun of it I tried TVersity yesterday and I'm now quite confused.. all of the mention problems are not any issue here.. so what should I do to make ps3 media player the one-and-only ?

Do you actually need it running as a service?
