Phoning home?

So I run little snitch firewall on my Mac and I noticed that ps3mediaserver was connecting to ps3mediaserver.googlecode.com. I figured this was a version check and no big deal. However it also seems to occasionally try and connect to kibbles.googlecode.com and smckay.googlecode.com (this last one only seemed to happen when opening the main jar file directly for some reason)

Can someone please explain why the server needs to connect to 3 different sites?

Google Code pages use Kibbles (a JavaScript keyboard shortcut library), and possibly the library on the other Google Code site (which is by the same author). The update checker only loads a static text file:

http://ps3mediaserver.googlecode.com/sv ... pdate.data

If you're sure the source is PMS (and not, say, your browser or AV scanner (if Google Code is down for maintenance, it may throw up a HTML holding page for that request)) and you've ruled this out:
