What does PS3 MS process through?

Basically my question is, what does PS3 MS use to process/transcode?
Looking at building a dedicated server (which will also run a site and be used to remote in for downloads) and was wondering if I could use a 5450?
It will be running a Q6600 and 8GB of RAM, but I don't want to put my current 4870 across (want to save power and don't like the heat output).

Any replies muchly appreciated.

Do you mean ATI 4870? The video card?

The video card is largely irrelevant (save in some very specific cases which have probably been obsoleted by now...)
For most PMS setups it's the CPU power and RAM amount which is most relevant.
A Q6600 and 8GB of RAM will do just fine. Network speed is very important too so make sure you have at least 100mbit wired Ethernet.
