Do ps3 media server send data over the web?

Postby Fire-Dragon-DoL » Sun Nov 14, 2010 3:31 pm

I mean, does it sends data even through the web so I can catch it somewhere else? (I don't think I can do it with a ps3 through the web, but maybe I can do it with a program created by me)

The previous guy was a spammer. Anywho, your question has been answered several times (look through posts from WorldOfHurt, he's made quite a few on the subject)

Sorry to answering you... I searched for half an hour but I don't find the topic... you can say I'm stupid but I really don't know where he talks about this :S

P.S.
I understood that vlc can act as a media client, but I don't understand how to say "look at my ps3 media server as a server!!" :P

So with hamachi should be ok! XD

Still I don't understand how to reproduce ps3 media server things to vlc, even if they are both on the same computer...

I can't see that working well, even if it was possible. MAYBE music and photos, but not audio/video streams with any real bitrate.

You would need a pretty serious upload speed on your VPN/Hamachi host PC's internet connection or a MASSIVE buffer and time to wait while it builds.

Would be sweet though, regardless.

You would have to search that. I don't even have VLC installed.
There's this.....dunno if it'll help.
http://dev.emcelettronica.com/diy-iptv- ... an-vlc-vls

Seems like a general tutorial on VLC streaming.

I personally don't even see the point of using VLC, or why people would use it. I can manage nearly every form of music, movies or web based streaming with PMS. I must be missing something........but ignorance is bliss, or so they say.

Because you didn't understand the question, I don't want "Stream" with vlc, i want to see streams coming from ps3 media server with vlc xD

Or maybe i explained myself really bad :P

A good example could be: my sister can view all my media file without the needing to share all my media folders (even external hdd)
