For the original issue (block system updates), just add this to your router's blocklist:

Once router is reset you must first logon wired to change settings, which most would allow you to turn the wireless function on or off depending on the default settings.

simply change your ps3 dns settings to 1.1.1.1 and you will get no internet therefore no update, but media streaming works fine.

I would set a static IP and set a fake default gateway. that way your dns works on your internal network but you shouldnt be able to get out.

i want to connect the pc to ps3 to stream music & movies etc but i don't have an adsl connection for now as we have moved.

Hah, most often it's people with working internet connections that don't want their PS3 to update

i have a problem and im pert near bitin off taint hairs.i dont want my ps3 online i merely want to, via singular ethernet cable from pc to ps3, stream everything to and through the television which into my ps3 is jacked. i prefer using pms but if i have to do in some other maybe more direct manner then so be it. gnawin gooch hair!
