Hi there

General discussion about PS3 Media Server (no support or requests)

I understand that various private conflicts, change of focus, etc can put a halt to projects like PMS but yeah... It's sad if that is the case.

I am personally not looking for any added functionality, just afraid some change in codecs, PS3 firmware, etc will put a stop to PMS for good. (Like the no sound on new mkv for example http://ps3mediaserver.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7203 )

If shagrath indeed has abandoned PMS for what ever reason it would be nice if it could be put in some kind of maintenance mode so that it could be kept alive by others. I'm not sure if that is possible or if it could work but considering the large userbase I'm thinking there should be some that are willing and able to continue some development/maintenance at a slower pace.

No, TVersity doesn't play ISOs.

None of the DLNA media servers I've tested play as many different media types as PS3MS as well as ISOs.

Perhaps if Shagrath doesn't have the time for this project, he could release the source code so a fork could be developed.

Although the intent isn't really a fork, just a temporary commit point since the current devs have been out for awhile.
I provide NO application support via PM or email, so please post your question to the forum per the Forum Rules.

I can't speak for lightglitch or eomcam, but, as meskibob says, I wouldn't classify this as a fork. It seems to be more a case of helping shagrath out with some housekeeping. There are lots of people willing to help out, but anything official would, obviously, need his blessing. Ideally, he will either contribute again, open up development, or work on something else equally awesome.
