I was able to pass the Cinavia protection by doing the following.
Under Transcoding Settings just put a check next to......
Keep DTS audio in stream (Compatible with optical output) -> Careful, slight bitrate overhead ! [Avisynth not supported]

Worked for me :)

If this does work, it would only work if the file has DTS audio. Any other format would be excluded from this exception (AC3,AAC). Testing to see if it actually works with DTS now.

Edit: Having just hooked up my new system, I never realized this would work, but it does for DTS audio.

Yeah I tried the above, it works for DTS files those I have tested. Getting BR AC3 rips to work has so far been unsuccessful for me :(

Anyone managed non DTS yet?

Is the Cinavia isseu worse with the latest updates? It has been in the ps3 for quite a while now? Or do people notice it more that there is more movies with it enabled?

It has to do with both things you mentioned. The few workarounds are being whittled down by Sony updates, for example the "multi-out" trick, which was killed by a recent firmware update.

But now that more mainstream movies are being infected, more people are being introduced to it as well. So it has to do with both.

Cinavia has been around since FW update 3.01 or so according to the SlySoft forums.

It's not gonna happen with other audios like aac and ac3....plain and simple.

EDIT: I should say within reason, for the average user using the typical available video/audio editing softwares currently available. Also, anything that may break Cinavia in the future will most definitely be proprietary. And if not, any free solution will most likely be way to involved and complicated for typical users who just want to sit 'n play their movies.

The only other way is to have a Cinavia free device, like the 360 or many different BluRay players out there. Encoding/remuxing to AVCHD structure on USB or disc generally play on Cinavia free BluRay players. Many standalones don't recognize Cinavia DRM as well.

HTPC's also work fine as there is not yet a software based media player with Cinavia recognition.

DVDFab claims to have a way, but it is pretty complicated.

Can I link to that v3.3 please? And also what if I downloaded an .AVI, I just got slammed on Battlefield LA tonight 15-20 minutes into the movie. Here was my error

“Audio outputs temporarily muted. Do not adjust the playback volume. The content being played is protected by Cinavia™
and is not authorized for playback on this device. For more information, see http://www.cinavia.com. Message Code 3.”

If you Pause for 10 seconds the audio comes on then it goes back out again. Man these movies companies have got it going on. I am using Media Server 1.21.1 on Windows 7 streaming to my PS3 with the newest firmware update that I installed tonight 5-22-2011.

If it's AVI, you are outta luck.

If the PS3 processes the audio at all, the Cinavia will be detected, and you WILL see the error.

And NO, you can't re-encode to DTS. At least not with anything free that I know of. DTS is a proprietary audio format, thus licenses are required, and if it's even possible reasonably.

And NO, re-encoding to aac, or flac or whatever will not work either............as stated many times in this thread.

Sorry just re-itterating the point before someone else asks.

And NO, you can't go backwards in firmware versions on your PS3. Not anyway I know of.

Would this work...

But when ripping the DVD / BD, couldn't we just strip out all Audio that falls outside of the human audible range?

Likewise couldn't this solution be applied to media servers when transcoding - they just don't bother streaming any audio that falls outside of the human audible range?

It's more complicated than that.

Check out SlySoft or DVDFab forums for more info on how it works....or so they think so far.
