well it seems it's a common issue :p (see earlier post)
please post the debug.log as soon as that happens !

Shagrath I've come across a file PM3MS keeps wanting to transcode, but it muxes fine and patches DTS with MKV2VOB.

Do you know of any bugs right now that could be causing this?

no, I'm using only the AVC Level4.1 max ref frames number as a reference to transcode or not
but I'm aware there's some files with slightly higher values (one or 2 more ref frames) that can be played on ps3
don't know the exact values and settings though
max ref frames of AVC L4.1 is : 1080p - 4 frames / 720- 9 frames / 480p - 16 frames

It's a DXVA compliant file, it should work okay. I'll try remuxing without the subs - Although sub support is turned off in PS3MS. It's transcoding to AC3 5.1 for some reason also - And there is no other audio tracks.

Better to use this formula ;)
Code: Select all
maximum ref = 12288 * 1024 / ( width * height * 1.5)

well I just remade almost the whole code for audio and subtitles tracks management, I hope for a better reliability now :p

Better to use this formula
CODE: SELECT ALL
maximum ref = 12288 * 1024 / ( width * height * 1.5)

thanks, didn't know there was one :p

Has something changed in the beta with regards to passing custom options to MEncoder?

In 1.04, I'd set custom options for MEncoder: "-vf expand=-20:-20:10:10" to provide a little more space for hard-subtitled content. This carried through when using the "AviSynth/MEncoder" engine as well:

Code: Select all
[win32/mencoder.exe] INFO  22:52:28.140 Starting C:\Program Files (x86)\PS3 Media Server\win32\mencoder.exe -ss 0 -quiet C:\Users\WADEMI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\javaps3media\pms-avs-[A-Kraze]_Vampire_Knight_-_01.mkv.avs -quiet -quiet -oac lavc -of mpeg -mpegopts format=mpeg2:muxrate=500000:vbuf_size=1194:abuf_size=64 -ovc lavc -channels 6 -vf expand=-20:-20:10:10 -lavdopts debug=0:threads=4 -lavcopts autoaspect=1:vcodec=mpeg2video:acodec=ac3:abitrate=384:threads=4:keyint=1:vqscale=1:vqmin=2:vrc_maxrate=60000:vrc_buf_size=7000 -subcp cp1252 -alang jpn,eng -slang eng -quiet -quiet -quiet -quiet -ofps 24000/1001 -quiet -quiet -af lavcresample=48000 -srate 48000 -o \\.\pipe\mencoder1235447547984

In 1.09 and 1.09.1, this isn't the case:

Code: Select all
[win32/mencoder.exe] INFO  13:15:27.326 Starting C:\Program Files (x86)\PS3 Media Server\win32\mencoder.exe -ss 0 F:\Drive F BitTorrent\Vampire_Knight\[A-Kraze]_Vampire_Knight_-_01.mkv -quiet -quiet -msglevel statusline=-1:mencoder=-1 -channels 6 -ovc copy -of rawaudio -mc 0 -noskip -oac lavc -lavcopts acodec=ac3:abitrate=384 -af lavcresample=48000 -srate 48000 -o \\.\pipe\1235499327114ffmpegaudio01

Is this a change? Or ???

Thanks!

Wow, the ability to play from .rar is really good for a first try!
I've only tried divx with and without AC3. It takes roughly 1-1,5 minutes for the file to start, and depending on the total bitrate, I guess, there is a stutter. When playing with AC3 it was a stutter every 10-15 sec. :/

Shorter episodes though worked great! Started much quicker and no stutter.
I could also ff/rew with no problem!!!

edit*
Also, every mkv I tried worked PERFECT with the Beta! Excellent, Shagrath! :D
