Transcode or Convert ??

I have a question, ive been remuxing all the 1080 MKV files to MPG and using TVERSITY to watch.

I've now started to use PMS to transoced MKV files directly without and hitch.

Ive noticed the files have approx 30-50mbps trascoding, rather than 10-20mbps once converted.

1) Does this mean im now getting better quality?
2) Why should I convert the MKV files now they transcode with no issue?

You will have the same quality: the high bitrate is due to a technical choice, to ensure real time transcoding with not so powerful CPUs...
the encoding is faster when you use more bitrate (that's why there's sometimes stuttering with HD videos when limiting bitrate to a wireless connection)

the application has been made in that purpose
that's why I have not launched any single conversion application since 5 months now...

sorry for this but please bear with me...

this means i get the same quality with the mkv file, as i would if i convert them with say mkv2vob? the only difference is

1. I dont need to transcode, if I dont mind the CPU loading?
