Cannot connect to Media server from Sony bravia

Postby Benedict » Sun Sep 06, 2009 3:58 pm

Ok, so i have installed the PS3 media server on my windows 7 pc, i want it to connect to my bravia so i can stream files. The problem is, the bravia does not recognise any of the media servers that I've try'd (WMP, Tversity, PS3 media player) i try'd it with a different computer in my network and it worked instantly, which means it is not the router messing with things. So it must be my computer, and as turning off the firewall on my comp makes no difference it leads me to think that there is another program interfering with all of the media servers, the problem with that theory is that I have try'd shit loads of ports and none of them work!
So please if any of you guys have a suggestion, tell me cause I'm completely stuck here.
thanks
ps. specs:
Windows 7 64x bit Ultimate
Asus DH deluxe motherboard
E6600 proc
8800gt graphix

Also, if i try to connect to it (ps3media server) with WMP it shows like there are no files are in the library, but this may have nothing to do with the bravia not recognising it. and i figured you guys may be helped by this:

Does the Bravia appear in your network environment? Look under Start -> Network. Windows 7 should report the Bravia as a Media Device (it does for my KDL40V5500). If not, your Sony is probably not on the same network as your PC (wrong IP settings).

I wouldn't have figured that one out... I always thought all network devices have mandatory MAC addresses. But great to hear you solved it!

Are you using the Bravia Internet link? I bought it with my original tv but returned it. Will it work with PMS?

The w5500 series has DNLA streaming intergrated so just plug in your lan cable and it works. no extra boxes needed

EDIT: Nevermind. All I had to was to set "Use an IP Filter" to my PS3's IP.

I get the approx. same message, though when streaming to my PS3. It streams anything for a few minutes, then I get this message in Traces, and the stream stops:
