Bravia has four arrow buttons to change position: left/right – to fast forward/reverse and up/down – to moving cursor and set time position (something like goto).
If DLNA.ORG_OP=11, then left/rght keys uses range header, and up/down uses TimeSeekRange.DLNA.ORG header
If DLNA.ORG_OP=10, then left/rght and up/down keys uses TimeSeekRange.DLNA.ORG header
If DLNA.ORG_OP=01, then left/rght keys uses range header, and up/down keys are disabled
and if DLNA.ORG_OP=00, then all keys are disabled
So, Range header is used to fast forward/reverse, but sometimes it is very slow. TimeSeekRange.DLNA.ORG header doesn’t work with directly steramed video files (PMS returns movie from beginning):

Code: Select all
GET /get/0$0$1$0/00000.MTS HTTP/1.1
TimeSeekRange.dlna.org: npt=1790.044-
getcontentFeatures.dlna.org: 1
Pragma: getIfoFileURI.dlna.org
transferMode.dlna.org: Streaming
Host: 192.168.1.101:5001

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Accept-Ranges: bytes
Connection: keep-alive
Content-Length: 1252804608
Content-Type: video/mpeg
ContentFeatures.DLNA.ORG: DLNA.ORG_PN=AVC_TS_HD_50_AC3;DLNA.ORG_OP=11;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01700000000000000000000000000000
Server: Windows_XP-x86-5.1, UPnP/1.0, PMS/1.20
TransferMode.DLNA.ORG: Streaming

ok I see, it's not easy to handle
so, with a transcoded video, we should use OP=10
and with a streamed video, we should use OP=11, and try to implement goto support while extracting a subset of the file based on time mark (not easy at all)
or use OP=01, and give up goto support

But with OP=01, bravia can fast forward/reverse only (other keys are disabled), so it's not good option fot this tv.

You’re right. Setting OP=01 for streamed videos (until there’s not TimeSeekRange.DLNA.ORG support for this) is better. But set OP=11 for transcoded video.

Hi,

I have a Bravia w5100. I can transcode and stream video (avi, rmvb, etc) using build 366. Thanks fro your work. However, I cannot fast forward or rewind. Every time when I use the left/right or up/down buttons, the cursor on the timeline moves but the video just stops forever.

I searched the forum and found this thread. but I am unable to set DLNA.ORG_OP=11. When I set SeekByTime=true in my bravia conf file, I still get DLNA.ORG_OP=01 (same if I set SeekByTime=false):

ContentFeatures.DLNA.ORG: DLNA.ORG_PN=MPEG_PS_NTSC;DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01700000000000000000000000000000

I am not sure why. How can I set DLNA.ORG_OP=11?

I've built the application from SVN source and I can confirm that it works now (Bravia W5500).

Great work! Seek by time is an absolute must for me, and now it works for Sony Bravia.

Thanks a lot for this application, Sony should be financing you ;)

shagrath, I'm also trying to do this update.
Could you please explain how to "activate" (for want of a better word) this update.

I have downloaded update.jar and put it into the Program Files/PS3 Media Server folder.
rebooted computer, reloaded PS3 Media Server and I still cannot utilise the seek time.

Would it be possible to post a more detailed set of instructions please?
Thankyou in advance.

Herbernator.
