Dual Core or Core 2 Duo??

Postby alexbarreras » Thu May 21, 2009 8:14 am

I wrote in the mac forum because I was thinking into buy an iMac.

Now I am considering to buy a PC laptop. I am thinking in a laptop Compaq Presario Dual Core with 4GB RAM and a video card intel which takes 1255mb maximum memory video.

do you think I will be able to use the media server with this laptop? Or I should buy a core 2 duo?? (the dual core laptop costs 400€ so it is an opportunity).

If I connect this laptop to a gigabit ethernet, can I stream 1080p? or just 720??

Thanks for your consideration.

while both chips are technically dual cores, the core 2 chip will outperform the other in every situation, not to mention the core 2 chip will run cooler.

100mbit is enough for streaming 1080p, too.
