Flash Video

Postby rnshagam » Mon Apr 27, 2009 2:57 am

Maybe the answer is somewhere but I couldn't find it in the forum.
Is there a way of viewing websites that use flash video players with the PS3. Supposedly the PS3 will run flash, but websites that I go to with the PS3 browser don't work like they do in IE or Firefox. A plug in is asked for.

Specifcally, I'd like to get to a website like http://music.indiana.edu/iumusiclive/streaming/ (I'm a classical music buff)

Anyway to do this with PS3 Media Server (or any other server, for that matter)? Am I missing something?

Thanks for any help/info

Site is using Flash player and Adobe proprietary RTMP streaming protocol. Its known to be a tricky one to grab. VLC player has some preliminary implementation but haven't had much luck with it. But bigger challenge is to find the real mediafile rtmp url being used and small differences on rtmp servers.

This far I was able to go with Orbit Downloader tool:
Code: Select all

Then trying great number of variations of rtmp:// urls all failed in VLC player. If someone found a rtmp url that plays fine in VLC player then we could support a webpage.

ps: PS3 webbrowser issue is out of PS3MS radar, it may work or not all boils down to Sony's flash player. Its not 100% copy of fat PC player plugin for a good reason.
