PMS is github project and IP is linked to it so it is harmless 8-)
Exactly to say, IP in FQDN is raw.github.com where PMS checks REPO for new versions?

Looking at the code (with my admittedly limited understanding of Java), this might be a bug.
The "isUpdatable" function under Build.java references the "IS_UPDATABLE" variable, which is set to TRUE once farther up in that file and nowhere else. It does not reference the "auto_update" variable defined in the PMS.conf, which is returned by the "isAutoUpdate" function in PmsConfiguration.java.
PMS.java uses "IsUpdatable" (and not "isAutoUpdate") during the "init", which if true, calls the auto updater and connects to github for version info.
It looks like "IsUpdatable" will always be true, so the version info will always be checked during PMS startup, and possibly elsewhere that utilizes the same logic.
Not sure what the appropriate fix is, if this is confirmed as a bug by a dev.

You can apply the latest snapshot (viewtopic.php?f=14&t=14753) or build directly from source (https://github.com/ps3mediaserver/ps3me ... r/BUILD.md) if you want the latest code including this bug fix.
You'll have to wait for the next official release if you want to use the regular installer.
