Curiosity about DTS streaming

the dts streaming option works flawlessly for me, but I'm very curious about it.
the PS3 as I have it configured normally decodes all audio formats and sends the audio the the reciever as LPCM over HDMI
When I watch a video using DTS streaming if I click display the ps3 seems to think that It's playing a 2 channel LPCM file, hence no decoding anything. But my Onkyo reciever recieves the DTS signal and says DTS

I'm just curious how sending the stream so that the PS3 thinks it's LPCM but the Reciever can later tell it's DTS is accomplished.

thanks, that thread did answer my questions.

It's a pretty cool hack, though I would imagine that except for the bandwidth saving's it doesn't really matter for me as I can demux DTS to LPCM over Hdmi
since I have gigabit the bandwidth isn't a big deal to me
It just changes where the track is decoded.
