I do not understand why, my system is very similar (as posted above, E6600 2.4@3Ghz 4Gb ram, P5K Deluxe, Linksys router wifi and 10/100 RJ45 ports.
I had a lot of stuttering while using wireless to PS3, as soon as I got it connected with a a cable everything is fine. Going to check with the "killer sample", just in case... And I am going to check CPU load too.
I do not usually have the PC doing stuff while watching movies in the living room. If i notice problems maybe this is the excuse for another "small upgrade"
