I am a confused I have a pentium D820 however it is not read as a dual core. I am thinking of upgrading my pc anyway.
Can someone please inform me which of the current cpu line ups are true multicores and indeed those that are most capable and energy efficient to transcode 1080p.

Your Pentium D820 is a true Dual Core.

Why when I use the media server does it say it looks like there is only 1 core available.

Select 2 from the drop down list and it should to it.
