PS3 Freezes when entering safe mode

hi, ive been scrolling internet forums for help for hours and cant find my problem anywhere. i turned my ps3 slim on and the blank screen came up, so i tried putting it into safe mode, but when the two beeps happen at the end it just freezes on the blank screen, even the wifi and processing lights stop. the only way to turn my ps3 off is to turn it off at the socket, when i do this it comes up with blank screen again, with the wifi and processing lights working, i tried entering safe mode again but same problem it just freezes instead of entering safe mode! is there a way to fix this or do i have to send my ps3 to sony?
