Discuss alternative media renderers (not PS3) supported by PS3 Media Server (e.g. Xbox 360, TVs &c.)

Toshiba Regza

Postby xexanos » Sun Oct 24, 2010 3:39 am

Hey guys.

I use PMS 1.20.409. After hours of trying, I finally got my TV to find the PMS. Watching photos and listen to music works well.
But when it comes to video files, I can only watch transcoded mkv-files and I have no audio with them. =/ When I try to watch any other transcoded format, I get an error.

I used the following Toshiba.conf:

Code: Select all
# ps3mediaserver renderer profile for Philips Aurea TV and Net TV
# Refer to PS3.conf for help
#
# The protocol string is (for mpeg2) :
# http-get:*:video/mpeg:DLNA.ORG_PN=MPEG_PS_PAL

RendererName=LARS
RendererIcon=bravia.png
UserAgentSearch=UPnP/1.0 DLNADOC/1.50 Intel_SDK_for_UPnP_devices/1.2
# Basic capabilities

Audio=true

##Use the DLNA feature seek by time and not by range
# SeekByTime=true

##Transcode codecs for video and audio engines #
##currently supported: MPEGAC3 or WMV for video, PCM or MP3 for audio
TranscodeVideo=MPEGAC3
TranscodeAudio=PCM
##TranscodeAudio=MP3

##Use default DVD buffer size: false = greater bitrate and faster encoding,
##but can generate incompatible videos, depends of your media renderer
##DefaultVBVBufSize=false

##Muxing capabilities: Does the media renderer supports H264 and MPEG2 in a mpegts file ?
## MuxH264ToMpegTS=true
MuxH264ToMpegTS=false

##Does the media renderer supports DTS in a mpeg file ?
# MuxDTSToMpeg=false

##Does the media renderer supports DTS wrapped into LPCM in a mpeg file ?
# WrapDTSIntoPCM=true

## H264Level41Limited=true

#Does music files need to be resampled at 44.1kHz?
TranscodeAudioTo441kHz=false

#Does the client need to receive transcoded video with minimal delay ? (Useful when the client has a small timeout delay)
TranscodeFastStart=true

#Size of the transcoded file (unknown length) sent to the renderer (could determine browsing failure/success)
#Possible values:
# -1: Specific value working with the PS3, means perfect transcoding and copying support (it's against the dlna spec though)
# 0: size attribute is NOT sent to the renderer (defaut value if this parameter isn't used)
# 100000000000: 100Gb, if you want to be sure that the media file is not cutted before the end ?
TranscodedVideoFileSize=100000000000

## Misc Files
##
## If you want to apply a specific extension for your transcoded files:
UseSameExtension=mpg

## Mime types transforms (oldmime=newmime|olemime2=newmime2|?
# MimeTypeChanges=video/avi=video/x-divx
# MimeTypesChanges=video/mp4=video/mpeg

## Extensions management: no need to put something here, as the server's default configuration is tuned for ps3
## What extensions are forcefully streamed as is (and not transcoded)
StreamExtensions=

## What extensions are forcefully transcoded
# Needed for Philips Aurea that can only handle mpg, mp3
# Not needed for Philips NetTV that can handle many formats natively
TranscodeExtensions=avi,wmv,mkv,wmv,ts,m2ts,tp,iso,mp4,mov,ps,rm

Would be great, if anyone could help me.

Hey xexanos,
I probably wont be much help but I've got a regza RV753 ive been trying to get going with PMS for a few weeks now with limited success. Maybe we can help each other a bit. I cant get PMS to use the Toshiba.conf with my TV but it still plays photo and music ok. Wont play video at all. My conf file was similar to yours but has slight differences so I'm gonna try yours out as soon as i get a chance.
Regarding your problems, maybe you need to add more formats to your TranscodeExtensions line at the bottom of the conf file as follows:

TranscodeExtensions=avi,wmv,mkv,wmv,ts,m2ts,tp,iso,mp4,mov,hdmov,hdm,flac,fla,dts,ogg,asf,asx,m2v,av,m2p,mts,gif,tif,tiff,png,bmp

Let me know how you get on.

I'll try this tommorow.
Will also try to change
Code: Select all
##Does the media renderer supports DTS in a mpeg file ?
# MuxDTSToMpeg=false
MuxDTSToMpeg=true

into false
and
"TranscodeAudio" into mp3

Will report, if there is any success.

PS: If you want to use my config-file, don't forget to change the RendererName ;)

Just to know what your 32RV733G supports, you can use Intel Tool:
- Install Intel UPnP tools
- run Device Spy
- It should list all your UPnP device and among them your device (eg TV, console, etc)
- Expand the device's tree and find service: urn:upnp-org:serviceId:ConnectionManager:1
- Expand that and double click on GetProtocolInfo(...).
- Click on Invoke and the result is in field Sink.
- Post it

This is the string response for the Toshiba Regza RV753.

Tried everything, same problem.
Well, in about a week I have my PS3 anyway.

EDIT: If I transcode a movie-file manually (with VLC) into mpeg2 with mpeg-audio, I can stream it and evreything works well.
Maybe thats a potential temporary solution (for me it is), since VLC takes about 5-10 minutes to transcode a video if 42 minutes.

Could you test that?
Code: Select all

UserAgentSearch=UPnP/1.0 DLNADOC/1.50 Intel_SDK_for_UPnP_devices/1.2
#UserAgentAdditionalHeader=X-AV-Client-Info
#UserAgentAdditionalHeaderSearch=
Video=true
Audio=true
Image=true
SeekByTime=true
DLNALocalizationRequired=false
TranscodeVideo=MPEGTSAC3
TranscodeAudio=MP3
DefaultVBVBufSize=false
MuxH264ToMpegTS=false
MuxDTSToMpeg=false
WrapDTSIntoPCM=false
MuxLPCMToMpeg=false
MaxVideoBitrateMbps=0
MaxVideoWidth=0
MaxVideoHeight=0
H264Level41Limited=true
TranscodeAudioTo441kHz=false
TranscodeFastStart=false
TranscodedVideoFileSize=-1
AutoExifRotate=true
MimeTypesChanges=audio/wav=audio/L16
DLNALocalizationRequired=true
#TranscodeExtensions=
#StreamExtensions=

MediaInfo=true
Supported = f:mpegps|mpegts v:mpeg2 a:ac3 m:video/mpeg
Supported = f:mp3 m:audio/mpeg
Supported = f:wav m:audio/L16
Supported = f:jpg m:image/jpeg

Also try same with DLNALocalizationRequired=true

Thanks Illico, works great :)

I have video+audio now :)

Video is about 1-2 sec ahead of the audio though. Any ideas?

Humm...
Try this:
Have a look on PMS Console Transcoding Settings --> Video files engines: MEncoder
* A/V sync alternative method: If video and audio get out of sync disabling this might help.
