Sony BDP-S370 (DLNA-compatible with new firmware M03.R.567)

Discuss alternative media renderers (not PS3) supported by PS3 Media Server (e.g. Xbox 360, TVs &c.)

Hi ExSport,

I believe thats the steps I've been taking already. Unfortunately it didn't work :(
I've purchased the Mezzmo which works fine...
Maybe PMS will support the Sony BDP sx8x models in the future - it seems to be possible ..

thanks for all the time you've spend trying to help me!

cheers

ok, never mind :)
But I think you did somewhere something wrong when you saw UNKNOWN renderer also when BDP.conf was already configured. 8-)

Sony BDP-S370 not able to see VOB or MKV files

Postby guzmansoldier » Fri May 06, 2011 5:39 pm

I currently have a Sony BDP-S370 that can not see the VOB or MKV files. I can browse the folders from my BDP-S370, but no media files. Is there a certain configuration I need to add or change? I have the latest firmware on the Sony BDP-S370 and the latest PS3 media server software. Any help would be appreciated.

Serviio is now officially recommended DLNA server for Sony devices by Sony UK in their How to... use your BRAVIA or Sony Blu-ray player to view digital media via DLNA video.

Hi Illico. Thanks for that info. Do thumbnails work? Any plans for internet tv/radio stream support? Thanks.

Hi all,
Sony firmware did not support thumbnails, and I'm not sure sony designers will make any updates for that.
But it seems that TV 2011 sony models will support more native formats.
The serviio developer is working on Internet TV and radio streams support, will be in the next 0.6 release.

Thanks for that. Ooops, I read earlier in this thread that thumbnails for photos works. Sorry.

Anyone using PMS for displaying photos on a 2010 Sony blu-ray player? I find that displaying photos as very slow, and .nef raw files take a really really long time to display.

In the traces I see:
Code: Select all

I don't know what's going on under the hood, but .nef files convert to jpeg with dcrawms.exe at the command line very quickly. Files are only approx 3000x2000 res. Can anyone please help shed some light on this? Thanks in advance.

Wow, just trying Serviio at the moment. Serviio is really quick with photos, and shows thumbnails also. Very nice. PS3 Media Server is really really slow to display images with this renderer. :-/

EDIT: In fact even streamed (i.e. not transcoded) video seems to start much quicker with Serviio. However, PS3MS streams online tv and radio, and can display raw camera image files.
