Sony BDP-S370 (DLNA-compatible with new firmware M03.R.567)

Discuss alternative media renderers (not PS3) supported by PS3 Media Server (e.g. Xbox 360, TVs &c.)

@WorldOfHurt - do you know the code well enough to see why TranscodedVideoFileSize=-1 seems to miss out so much of Request.V2.java? Is the PS3 tolerant of far fewer fields in the HTML? Also, let me know if my changes work for you.

Thanks y'all. To clarify, I started again from scratch with an empty folder and did an svn check out. I tried the conf included in the patch. No go for the web tv. Also no go for transcoding .m4a files to mp3.

Grolschie, please clarify whether you added 'TranscodedVideoFileSize=370' to the conf included with the patch.

...and whether you're using your conf or mine. Pretty much all of these code fixes will get ignored if you don't use mediainfo=true.

Ok just tried again from scratch. Here is what I did:
  • Created new folder
  • SVN check out of PMS
  • Copy patch.exe into directory
  • Extract sony_bdp_v2.patch into directory
  • Test compile with Ant (not necessary)
  • Patch wih command "patch -p0 < sony_bdp_v2.patch"
  • Compile with Ant
  • Add 'TranscodedVideoFileSize=370' line to SonyBluray.conf just above 'MediaInfo=true'
  • Copy pmsencoder-1.1.0.jar into 'plugins' folder
  • Add 'pmsencoder,' to the front of the engines in pms.conf
  • Test. It works with the default France 24 (edit: first attempt failed) and BFM TV.
  • Test other files. Interesting that .m4a now come through as LPCM which is really nice.
  • Replace web.conf with my one, and restart the server
  • Test. None of the TV streams in mine work. (edit: only one works so far, but only intermittently)

Thanks guys. :D

Cool. But does anyone have idea why TV streaming is broken now for me, yet before it was working?

Has anyone tried the suggested patch with the new release M03.R.624 yet? Does it work?

As a general request: Please state the region in which you've tested the patch. I have a hard time figuring out what applies to my case (BDP-S470 in Canada) and what doesn't. Apparently there are region based differences that have to be considered.

Thanks.

This thread's title is misleading at this point; everything here applies to release M03.R.623 just as well (EDIT2: I guess M03.R.624 is for the BDP470). The only "regional" quirk noted thus far is that US models will accept many formats if you use the video/mpeg mimetype whereas EU models prefer video/divx. Other comments here and elsewhere imply that Canadian models may behave similarly to EU, a point on which you're in an ideal position to shed further light.

EDIT: Rapidshare link to my win32 build if you'd like to try it out: pms-setup-windows-1.20.409_sony_bdp_patch_v2.zip .

Grolschie, can you give an example of a Web TV feed that works with the hacky fix but not any more? Plus if you know of a good comprehensive list of feeds (or better yet a ready-made web.conf) to jump-start web feed exploration, I'd appreciate it.

Hi infidel.

Thanks for the reply. Hereis an example:

I don't have any English TV streams in my web.conf as yet sorry.

Many thanks.
