Sony Bravia not recognized by PS3

Postby draughtsman » Mon May 03, 2010 11:28 pm

PC: AMD Athlon 64 processor clock speed 2.41.GHz, Windows XP, Speedtouch router 100 MB LAN, renderer Sony Bravia KDL-V5500.

Problem: PS3 does not recognize the media renderer.

Tested with PS3 1.11.366 and 1.20.409. The Sony Bravia was first recognized, but after a TV system update by a Sony mechanic it was no longer. PS3 sees an unknown renderer, but only after I am browsing on the media server. The TV sees the PS3 media server.

My first question: how far is it a problem for the operation of PS3 if the renderer is not recognized? (Bravia5500 is the only one config file)
Display name renderer to the TV: Sony Bravia 5500 Ser
displayed product information:
1: S E R I A L N
2:-----
3: 1.620EA
2nd question: On what information is the renderer determined? Is that only the Rendername? I have tested different names above, but without result.

Any help appreciated,

From your log, your TV is identified as "BRAVIA S E R I A L N"

Replace "(BRAVIA KDL.+5[0-9]{3})|(BRAVIA KDL.+WE5)|(BRAVIA KDL-[0-9]{2}XBR9)|(BRAVIA KDL.+EX5)" with "BRAVIA S E R I A L N" in Bravia5500.conf then change the Renderername= entry in Bravia5500.conf to something suitable for your TV.

That's all I had to do for my Bravia W5810

@Twosheds,

Thanks! It works like a charm. I was fumbling with the wrong parameter :roll:
I assume when there's only one config file, that those settings always will be loaded ...

I thought this would be a solution to my problem of "unknow renderer",

I edited the Bravia5500.conf but PS3 still doesn't shows "unknown renderer"

@Racecar:
After my KDL5500 has undergone an update, the name of the TV that PMS sees is changed. This is my content of my Bravia5500.conf:

I hope it helps.
The Bravia is not detected until I start browsing, perhaps it’s the same for you?

Ps: I’m writing a KDL5500 Guide with all my facts in it. Once it’s complete, I will post it.
