For those wanting to use Windows Media Player

Discuss alternative media renderers (not PS3) supported by PS3 Media Server (like Xbox 360 and TVs)

For those wanting to use Windows Media Player

Okay, I know there is not a whole lot of activity on this front. But I have seen that there are some of us trying to make it work. So I thought I would start a thread that deals with it and hopefully those that are interested and/or working on it will join in.

I have built a WMP.conf file (I'm on Mac) and made a WMP.png. Loaded everything in. Fired up. WMP is detected with no problems. However, WMP does not show any media available, indeed it doesn't show my PS3 Media Server at all. All 3 machines I have are detected.

To start off, here is my current CONF file. It detects the 2 versions of WMP that I have out there:

Code: Select all
# ps3mediaserver renderer profile for Windows Media Player
# Refer to PS3.conf for help

RendererName=Windows Media
RendererIcon=WMP.png
UserAgentSearch=UPnP/1.0; Windows|Windows-Media-Player
Video=true
Audio=true
Image=true
SeekByTime=false
TranscodeVideo=MPEGAC3
TranscodeAudio=PCM
DefaultVBVBufSize=true
MuxH264ToMpegTS=true
MuxDTSToMpeg=true
WrapDTSIntoPCM=false
MuxLPCMToMpeg=true
MaxVideoBitrateMbps=0
MaxVideoWidth=0
MaxVideoHeight=0
TranscodeExtensions=ra,rm,ram,mov,qt,mp4
StreamExtensions=wma,wmv,wm,mp3,avi,mpg,mpeg,m1v,mp2,mp3,mpa,mpe,mpv2,m3u,wav,cda

I hand created the various extensions that Microsoft says WMP will play or not.

Now, the first task (or question) is: Why can't WMP see the PS3 Media Server? How can it be fixed?

For those interested I am attaching the WMP.png that I use.
