You can't. It is BRAVIA limitation (TV can't play HD H.264 video with aspect other than 16:9 and 4:3, and level > 4.1)

Thanx, seems it is better now. eg. the subtitles are removed before new one appears however i have them duplicated - they appear twice with different size...

May i know your exact settings for advanced codec parameters and renderer conf ?

put ass/ssa subtitles off from mencoder settings.
Then it work ok.

After doing this setup(-vf expand=::::1:16/9), I have the black bars so correct aspect ratio at my Philips LCD TV, thanks so much.

But I have to uncheck ass/ssa subtitles, otherwise two subtitles bind each other, when turned off; only one subtitle. But my question is:
This subtitle's visual quality is worse than ass/ssa subtitle's, is there any way to activate only ass/ssa subtitles with black borders/correct aspect ratio?

Try setting OSD to 1 like this: -vf expand=::::1:16/9
This worked for me.

Can you please tell me where and how to do this?

I hvae the same problem (old subtitles don's disapear after the new one is shown)
