Hi,

I have an Ellion HMR-600H media player which uses the Realtek 1282 chipset. I started by installing the 1.10.51 version of PMS on my Lenovo R61 laptop which has a T8100 Intel Core Duo CPU and is connected to the media player via 802.11g. Files on the laptop transcoded and streamed just fine. The Ellion handles most formats but one that it doesn't handle is O2 VP6 encoded FLV files. I tried one such file - let us call it xyz.flv - and it was transcoded and played just fine by the 1.10.51 version.

I wanted to be able to stream web content and discovered that I would need the r409 version to do that (although the web.conf file in 1.10.51 suggest that it should be possible in this version). So, I installed it as well as the pmsencoder plugin. The Ellion HMR-600H reports itself as "POSIX UPnP/1.0 Intel MicroStack/1.0.2718, RealtekMediaCenter, DLNADOC/1.50" initially, but when you try to transfer a file it reports as "RealtekVOD neon/0.27.2". The first one causes the PopcornHour.conf renderer to be chosen, and the second one is unknown. The xyz.flv file could not be streamed, but caused an "Illegal file" message on the Ellion. I figured it was due to the unknown renderer, so I prepared a copy of the PopcornHour.conf with UserAgentSearch=RealtekVOD and stored it under a different name. As a precaution I removed Realtek.conf. The xyz.flv file still cannot be received by the Ellion and none of the web links, such as the YouTube or TVs can be accessed. They all result in an "Illegal file" message. I tried the Realtek.conf as well (with the PopcornHour.conf removed), changing UserAgentSearch to RealtekMediaCenter and to RealtekVOD. No change.

As it turns out, none of my PC files will stream with version r409 and the renderer files described above. As all my PC files do stream with version 1.10.51 and as I assume that it uses the PS3 renderer configuration, I tried the PS3.conf, replacing the UserAgentSearch to recognize the Ellion HMR-600H. All the settings are the same in the two versions, but nothing streams in r409. I get an "Illegal file" report for all files hosted on the PC as well as for all web links.

The Ellion players are very popular in Europe (see elliondigital.com and elliondigital.de), so it would be great if we could make the PMS work with these devices. The TwonkyServer does work with the Media Feeds (including YouTube), but I believe it relies on one of their own servers and the service is unstable.

Can anybody help? See the attached debug.log. The pmsencoder.log remains empty.

Hi, I have a KDL-32EX403 (u) and was wondering if PMS will use the correct renderer, i.e. the 5500 one? As presumably they have a similar spec. Or do I need to edit the renderer so that PMS recognises my tele should use a particular renderer?

This is the line from the .conf file:

UserAgentAdditionalHeaderSearch=(BRAVIA KDL.+5[0-9]{3})|(BRAVIA KDL.+WE5)|(BRAVIA KDL-[0-9]{2}XBR9)|(BRAVIA KDL. +EX5)

But on looking at PMS, it's showing as unknown renderer :S

Thanks, MaxCG

Add |(BRAVIA KDL. +EX4) at the end of the UserAgent.... line
Sony Bravia KDL-46EX501 | Sony BDP-S373 | Sony SMP-N100 |Serviio / PS3MS | Buffalo 2Share DD

Thanks mate, that did the job. Really happy with how avi's are coming our after I heard a lot of people saying they looked terrible.

One thing though. I was hoping I could use PMS to transocde stuff that's on my Popcorn Hours to send to the other tele. The PCH is cat5'ed into the router as is the computer I'm running PMS off atm. I've managed to play an avi so far however when trying to browse most folders I get an error after a while saying that the media server is temporarily unavailible?

It seems to do this when trying ipen a folder with lots of media files in it, i.e. a 1 season of a particular show with 20 avi episodes etc.

Cheers, MaxCG

Guessing your error is similar to viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3507&start=10#p15836
I provide NO application support via PM or email, so please post your question to the forum.

Thanks fella. I'll try rejiggging my library. Not too much of a bother as I have .nfo and picture files stored locally with the video files.

I managed to test a 720p mkv file by moving it too the root of the folder on the PCH (so it came up as I can't open any of the folders with my films in). It seemed to come out nice but I did have to pause it quite a few times, also, really seems squashed from top to bottom, there is as much if not more black borders at the top and bottom than there is picture :s.

Because the film wasn't really data intensive I'm doubting that I'll be able to steam from PCH to PMS to TV. So the goal will be to creat a NAS that can run PMS and have all my media on. That way I can sream via PMS to the Bravia and the PCH can also just read off the NAS. Bit out of my knowledge base atm though!

Re my entry of 9/2: The question here is why r409 with the PS3 renderer (PS3.conf) behaves differently from 1.10.51. The latter works with my Ellion box (except for the web links) whereas r409 with PS3.conf does not.

Ideas anyone?

Hi, I can't seem to stop mencoder from squishing the aspect ratio on all widescreen HD videos. I tried adding the following line to my PMS.conf file as was mentioned earlier in this thread but has made no difference:

Code: Select all
mencoder_decode = ((double) width \/ height) >= 1.7 && ((double) width \/ height) <= 1.9 :: -mpegopts vaspect=4\/3

any ideas? Thanks

Above never worked for me but below it did the job:
Code: Select all
:: -vf softskip,expand=::::1:16/9:2

It automatically adds black bars if picture is not 16/9. It computes automaticaly how big black bars should be ;)
softskip part is here due to compatibility issues(on some videos picture is broken when not used)
16/9 means you are using 16:9 tv so if 4:3 TV is used, replace it with 4/3
:1: means that subtitles will be rendered correctly
:2 means that final AR will not use ODD width or height. If ODD used, some videos will have broken picture(bad colors,tripple picture etc.)

Thanks for the tip, seems logical. But how do I put that in the conf file so that PMS sees it as the rule?
