Additional Media Boxes - Which work with PS3MS?

Postby skeety » Fri Jul 12, 2013 7:16 pm

I have been a avid PS3 MS user for years.

I have a Media server with >10Tb worth of movies / TV / Photos / Music / etc on it, and love how easy it is to access via PS3MS

But now I'm in a bigger house, and have aquired some new family members. :) (g/f's teenage kids).

They all have TV's, and I'm looking to have them all be able to access the server from their own individual TV's.

I previously had experience with a Sony brand Media Box (I think it was the Sony SMP-N100)...and the only way I could get that to access the server was with Servioo...and I just prefer PS3 MS much much more.

I'm looking for input/opinons/experience/etc on other Media / Smart Boxes you can connect to a TV and will access PS3 Media Server.

Preferably, models under $75 each

Anyone have the Sony SMP-N200? Does that work with PS3 MS? Other boxes?

Any help is appreciated.

I take it your gf's kids don't own video game consoles? Otherwise they could just use their PS3/XBox360.

If you need to buy devices I might suggest looking for blu-ray players that work for it (Sony BDP-S3xx series or above) for example.
They might be a little higher than $75, unless on a good sale.

her son has an X-box, and I know that'll work.

I was going to pick up a Roku or, like I said, a Sony Media Player...

I ended up going with the latest Sony BDP-Sxxx Blu Ray Players...and they seem to work well. (I have the BDP-S3100 specifically)

Not as well as a PS3, but sufficient. And cheaper.
