Streaming to Android Device

Hello

When i am trying to Stream to my ICS Android Tablet, audio stays mute.
I am trying to stream mkv files with either x264/AC-3 oedr x264/DTS in it.
How can i tell the ps3mediaserver to convert the audio in something android is able to decode?

I am using ps3mediaserver 1.6.0 + Ubuntu 12.04

PMS doesn't seem to recognise the Nexus 7 tablet very well for video playback...

First question - has anyone written a custom .conf file for the Nexus 7?

Second question if that's a no - could someone give me some pointers as to setting I should use to create one for the Nexus 7?

The setup is as follows:
Win7 home acting as a server running PMS 1.6.0.0
My PS3 yellow light of deathed a few weeks ago so now I'm using XBMC on another PC.

The Nexus 7 arrived yesterday and I was planning on using that to watch movies, as well as listen to music. The music side is working fine however videos have been a bi problematic so far.

On the N7 I've tried BubbleUPnP using Vplayer and MX Player. H264 as MKV seems to play no issues, but support for other file types doesn't seem good, MP4 as AVi file won't load. Higher resolution MKV files attempt to play, but are jerky.

BubbleUPnP seems to register in PSM as renderer "Android":

The config settings for Android seem pretty sparse and don't look tuned to the N7, does anyone have any advice for attempting to create a .conf file for Nexus 7? I haven't done this before.

Hi there just a Thank you for this brilliant piece of software, I have been using it for a while now on my PS3 without issues.

I have noticed that I have issues when using PS3 MS with Android

I have a Galaxy S and Galaxy S3 bothwith UPnPlay and MX Player

I can connect and browse, I can play music and view photos.

I do have an issue with Video Playback on the Androids when I start the video, I just get the LOADING Icon but no video, if I come back to the PC and kill the Mencoder.exe via Task Manager then video playback starts straight away.

I am running PS3 MS v1.60
on Windows 764Bit with Java 7u5

Any help appriciated.

Its not an isue of which player one uses but its an issue which format gets transcoded into what

Hi all,

I have an annoying problem I just can't seem to find a solution to. I set up PMS on my Ubuntu 12.04 box to stream video and audio to my Xbox and my Android phone. Video streaming to my Xbox works great but when I try and stream video to my Galaxy S3 it tries and fails with "Sorry, this video cannot be played". I have tried all sorts of other videos players recommended my people on forums I have read. On a side note, audio works just fine on my phone. For some reason the video streaming has worked on random occasions but hasn't worked in a while now.
It's not the video file or codec since I have had them working before (randomly).

Has anyone come across this problem before or have idea what might be going on and how to sort it?

I have found that the Android.conf file only lists mkv, hdmov, hdm, flac, fla, dts, ogg, asf, asx, m2v as filet type extensions to stream so all others need to be transcoded. I know on my Galaxy Tab 2 running ICS v4.0.4 it can natively ply other file types such as avi, mp4, mpeg, etc. so I added them to the end of the StreamExtensions= line and everything seems to play fine, even wmv and mov files.

Here is what I have for the last line in the Android.conf file:

StreamExtensions=mkv,hdmov,hdm,flac,fla,dts,ogg,asf,asx,m2v,mp4,mpg,mpeg,avi,mov,wmv

I'm sure there are probably others, but these make up most of my media types that I have on my server.

Hello everyone and sorry for my bad english, I'm french...

I have some problems to read videos from Android devices (Samsung Galaxy S3 + Nexus 7) but it works perfectly when i read it on my PS3.
I updated my Debian system few days ago and before update it works fine on my S3. Now I can't open videos on my S3, it refuse to open it and says : "Video cannot be read".
I get my Nexus 7 yesterday so I can't tell if it worked before Debian update. I'm using default renderers.

On my Nexus, the video is open but there's no sound and I can't avance in video or going back.

I was using 1.60.0 version but i have same problems with 1.70.0. My Android client is MediaHouse but I try with others clients and I have the same bugs.

I had to register just to let everyone know this worked for me. Perfectly. I'm on OSX and did the same, adding the rest of the formats. This is on a Nexus 7 running CM10. Video plays flawlessly now. Before only MKV would play, anything else would try to fill the buffer, then crash it to -99,xxxxxxxx.
