Panasonic DMP-BDT320

I just got this new blu-ray player, the Panny BDT320, I have already got PS3 Media Server working with my Sony blu-ray and PS3, so the setup is not news to me... anyhow, the Panny "sees" my server, but can't connect to it. The PMS traces show that the renderer on the Panny is seen, because the IP for the Panny pops up there. I am sure it was able to connect the first time I tried it, but not any more.

Even tho I have it running on 2 clients, I am still pretty new to this whole DLNA thing. Anyhow I installed Serviio to see if that would work... oddly enough, Serviio connects fine (I am watching a movie thru Serviio on it now as I write this). I don't like Serviio as much as PMS, so I am hoping this bug can be fixed. Either in my setup or the program, don't know which yet.

What information can I give to help track it down? Here are my traces... the Panny is on 192.168.0.246, you can see it is picked up, but not connected.

The traces don't show my PS3, because it is off at the moment, but you can see the sonnection was established to the Sony Bluray and several other renderers on my LAN. Any help is appreciated.

I just got this new blu-ray player, the Panny BDT320

Is there any kind of Scan for servers/media function like in the PS3 that you can toggle to give it a nudge ? Or turn off the BD player network connection, then turn it back on.

Just reminds of when the PS3 occasionally does this, and you have to scan to get the server to pop up.

One of only a few things I like about Serviio is that it seems to consistently connect.

I would check over the FAQ but I am thinking perhaps a firewall issue. You could add an inbound rule allowing full access to the Panasonic.

Actually this is a bit stranger than you think. The 2 devices, the PMS server and the Panny Blu-ray, "see" each other. The Panny says that it finds 3 media servers (it seems to automatically rescan every 15 seconds or so), it finds PMS, my Windows Media Player, and Serviio. When I select PMS, the Panny tries to connect, but can't (by the way, my Sony s580 is active on my LAN, and it is picked up fine and works okay with PMS... ditto for my PS3)... so I don't think it is a firewall issue.

When I select Serviio on the Panny, it thinks about it for a few seconds, then connects and offers the choices (Audio, Video, etc). For me, this is all mute, because I have returned the Panny today for a refund. Too much hassle. The remote is silly and works horribly. And the videos I played with Serviio all came out at the wrong aspect ratio. I think it wasn't Serviio's fault, as it plays them fine thru my s580. So the Panny failed on 2 counts, I retuned within the allowed period thru Amazon (they have a fantastic return policy), and purchased a Sony to replace it. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't stick with a Sony in the first place. The Sony PS3 and blu-ray players that I own all work, and work well. I just wasted a lot of time giving Panny a chance.

Has anyone had any luck with the current Panasonic players? I have a 220, and the 220 can see the PMS in the menu, however it fails to connect instantly upon selecting it. I am very new to PMS, but have had good results so far with it speaking with my Samsung TV, and am about to set up a WDTV Live also.
