Postby italianissimo » Sun Jan 27, 2013 5:11 pm

Sorry but I speak only Portuguese of Brazil.

I have a new Philips Smart TV 42PFL6007G/78 and is connected and typically nest on 10 MB wi-fi network, surf the Internet normally.
As I wanted to watch on TV the videos stored in my Notebook Corei3 3 GB with Windows7, searching I decided to install PS3 Media Server 1.72.0 that was free.
Was able to see my files in the Notebook and watch TV normally until yesterday, although some times giving error when trying to open video folder on my external HDD Samsung: "no files in this folder"

Today I was trying to watch some videos but the PS3 Media Server no longer shows the Philips TV icon, and when I select the TV remote the DLNA Server button no longer shows the PS3 Media Server, let alone computer directories and files. Have you checked the network and both the TV as the PS3 Media Server are visible and selected the option allowed: all devices have permission to access the media.

Below the LOG from PS3 Media Server.

I appreciate the help with a big hug.

Bom dia amigos!

Abaixo o LOG do PS3 Media Server.

Agradeço a ajuda com um grande abraço.

Hi,
does anybody know why when I choose no encoding, external subtitles I don't get any subtitles, but when using mencoder external subtitles the subtitles are showing? I don't want to transcode the movie, but just to stream subtitles? Is there any setting that I am missing?

And another question, is there an option to change the aspect ratio via PMS? Most of the new blue ray movies are 21:9 and my TV is 16:9 so the picture is a little bit stretched and the TV player doesn't have the option to change the aspect ratio - just original and stretched? (I want to keep the original aspect ratio - the picture should touch the left and right side of the TV and above and below the picture should have black lines)

HEllo everyone! I am really enthusiastic about PS3 media server because all other mediaservers seemed to fail to do what I want and I am really disapointed since transcoding is only option for my philips TV
It is Philips TV from 2010 ( I installed latest firmware recently)
I downloaded latest version of PS3 Media server and isnstalled Java as required. Program detected the TV Correctly and I am using the ready settings called Philips TV, these settings should work for any 2010 model as stated in these forums (mainly marked for 8605 model)
I tried to play one movie and it played. THe problem is I am not familiar at all with this software and I dont understand what settings this profile is using for encoding.
What I am insterested is: Being able to play full HD movies encoded with h.264 or MPEG4 in mkv or mp4 container for highest possible quality. I have wired network with GIgabit network and cables are short so there should not be probleme with network speed. PC is 3 GHZ dual core AMD processor which is fast enough to do the job.
So my question is:
When using the standard settings profile file, suitable for Philips 2010 TVs (as mentioned above), in what format is the PS3 media server transcoding the movie file and with what video and audio codec? Is it only transcoding when there are subtitle files, only when file is different from compatible files or its transcoding everytime no matter the file played?
In the settings I cant find anything to alter the formats codecs options, and software is very complicated for me to understand.
I have been using Wild media server, which worked, BUT only in mpg (mpeg) containter and encoded in MPEG2!
But in the table with codeds its written that all Philips 2010 TVs including my 7605H/12 support in DLNA mkv (h264, 24 fps, at 20 Mbit/s, audio: HE-AAC, AC3, MP3, PCM), and mp4 in H264 HP at 15 or 30 fps, at maximum 20Mbit/s (audio AAC, HE-AAC(v1&v2), AC5

Trying all these combinations in wild media server and nothing. I cannot try these combinations in PS3 media server because I dont know how to set it up.

Basically, what I am looking for is High Quality Full HD video in H264, in either mkv or MPEG-4 contaioner (*mp4-which is a little better, because maximum FPS is 3- instead of 24 for MKV) to take full advantage of quality video and processor power that the TV has (pixel perice HD, motion&other stuff that makes the picture amazing in PHILIPS TV)
And at same time audio with medium quality, since I dont have any 3d setup (for now using the TVs integrated speakers)
What cointainer would you reccomend me -the mkv or MPEG4?
Thank you in advance for any advice! :)

And something else! What about GPU hardware accelerated transcoding for AMD cards? AMD has accelerated video option for years why not use them to unload the CPU a little?
Type in google amd accelerated video and see for yourself! Any card from HD 2000 and above has it!

Hi,

it could be possible, that you need to activate in the TV network configuration that the PC can access the Tv...
