Hello

Well I've got an IPad for some days now and was fiddling with a bunch of apps, then I stumbled over this app:

AcePlayer

It lets you stream and download media via PSM. Especialy the download function is much more convinient for me then iTunes. So far everything works perfectly for me, so you might give it a try.
There is a Lite version of the app but since a few days the full version is free as well (however this might change sometime...). I tryd both versions and the adds in the "Lite" aren't to bothering.

I hope this is helpful for someone in any way.

And I want to thank everyone who works on and suports this extremly fine piece of software.

Sry for any spelling errors :-)

Thanks, Wotrak.
AcePlayer is perfect for my usage. No transcoding on the server, it seems to be done on the iPad2 at least for my .ts streams.
What's the difference between the regular and free version?

Hi,

PS3 Media Server works well with the Airplayer... thanks for that!
But I'm still struggeling to transcode pictures. My pictures on the server are quite big ~5MB
I tried to set the video size to 640*480 to see if this would speed it up, but it seems that PMS is not transcoding it.
Any ideas?

I don't think PMS transcodes images at all.
Only audio and video gets transcoded when needed.

These are the goodplayer user-agent strings that are working for me if I remove xbmc.conf from "renderers" folder.

Code: Select all
# App: Goodplayer
# User-Agent: GoodPlayer/4.5 CFNetwork/548.0.4 Darwin/11.0.0

# Combined regular expression of working user agents
UserAgentSearch= GoodPlayer/4.5 CFNetwork/548.0.4 Darwin/11.0.0

# UserAgentAdditionalHeaders: additional http header for better detection
UserAgentAdditionalHeader= GoodPlayer
UserAgentAdditionalHeaderSearch= GoodPlayer | Platinum/0.6.8.0

Currently PMS detects my ipad1 twice, one as Ipad and another one as unknown renderer, because Goodplayer also sends other strings like.

Code: Select all
User-Agent: UPnP/1.0 DLNADOC/1.50 Platinum/0.6.8.0
User-Agent: vlc/1.2.0-git

If I put xbmc.conf back, my iPad1 it's always detected as XMBC
