just installed r500 works great, i love the option now to use mencoder mt all the time. using 32735 mencoder_mt work great. before most the time h264 used the normal mencoder i didnt know about the resolution restriction imposed on it.. basically its alot better now since 99% of my content is transcoded because i use a bravia 5500 this is very important, and i have a core 2 duo so lets use it fully. :)

This sounds great! I've been hoping that I could use both cores on my machine as well. Can't wait to try it out.

I'll be releasing SB14 today hopefully which will include these changes and some more experimental MEncoder changes

errr any good reason for r500 ? :p

tsMuxer engine is NOT encoding videos... mencoder is just doing an extraction and barely use any cpu (like the audio part extraction)...

It's not important, just consistency. The user ticked the option to use MT, so it uses it. You're right that there will be no performance advantage

Tested r504 and I found it great that now PMSencoder is visible on the encoding engines :D .
But I get the following error in debug.log during play of DVD-ISO file:

could we possibly get a disable thumbnails option in general settings (for faster browsing), there is a generate thumbnails option but nothing to disable them completely. this would help greatly for bravia owners or anyone else experiencing slow browsing due to thumbnails heh.

Could you please post the line you added to use only mencoder_mt, and where exactly in the expert parameters did you add it? Thx!
