So maybe it is time for the Mencoder Subjunk build to go in the PMS SVN build then?
I try'd to put it in there manualy but that for some reason doens't work.

We are getting closer to that goal but I think there is still a bug with DVD ISO playback. I have been meaning to test it and I will soon.

will test it tonight, thanx very much, since the subjunk builds have arrived I've not even looked back at the official builds, LOL..
And it will be awesome if you'll be able to fix all quirks people have with all their different devices..

I hope for the future when your mencoder build is really solid, support for GPU encoding will be supported, but I guess that's a whole different ballgame and a lot of work..

GPU encoding? Forget it.
If exists then it is crap and when you are talking about CoreAVC/DiAVC/FFDSHOW then it is DECODING only.
Anyway only Sherpya builds supports dshow decoders like above
But it is useful also in case of decoding only, my tests were about 20-30% faster with DiAVC because 1080p decoding part used less CPU time so encoding process had more CPU cycles free = file encoded at about 25% sooner.
It can help in case your PC can't encode in real time. With old MEncoder on my old test PC I had 21fps=no realtime encoding possible, but when I used DiAVC/CoreAVC, encoding was at about 27fps=realtime encoding possible
Maybe some time we will have GPU decoding in MEncoder but not encoding.

I think Decoding is what he meant, because PMS is not encoding anything.

PMS transcodes, remuxes or streams. Transcoding = encoding. If you need to transcode, video have to be decoded first.
So PMS does both. It does it in software way, there is no HW encoding and yes, there is HW decoding but with Sherpya build only.
Anyway the fastest h264 decoder out there is DiAVC which is SW decoder but it is faster than CoreAVC/FFDshow HW decoders.
But what I remember CoreAVC is CUDA and SW decoders but FFDShow is DXVA/SW.
CUDA copies decoded frames to memory so encoders can see decoded picture = usable with MEncoder
DXVA sends decoded frames directly to the output so decoded picture is not copied to memory = can't be used with MEncoder

Regarding HW accelerated decoding, I'm interested to activate CrystalHD support into PS3MS (read this for more details).

I think that is "just" a compilation setting to enable by using Broadcom Crystal HD drivers. Indeed, CrystalHD code (crystalhd.c file) is already present in all lastest sources you use. I'm not enough skilled to do it by myself, and I think that it will be better for all users it is directly integrated in your releases.

I will be please to help you by testing and verifying this feature adding.
